Biophilic 3BHK Design
The client approached us for the interior renovation of the common areas/family rooms of this 3BHK apartment in Orlem, Malad West, Mumbai.
The idea for this renovation was to open up the overall space by combining the kitchen, dining, living, and entertainment room into a single space. A bedroom near the living area was to be converted into a separate entertainment zone.
They wanted a clean, modern, and fresh look where they could relax, unwind and entertain family members and guests often.
The Design Theme
We selected a modern contemporary biophilic look with a Scandinavian style color palette to achieve the desired look as per our client's requirements.
Combining rustic and industrial elements with contemporary design helped this apartment elevate the style quotient and the addition of natural colors and biophilia provided a fresh feel to this renovation.
The flooring was changed with matt grey tiles. The ceiling design was kept simple to maintain the focus on the main design elements. Track lights were used to highlight the accents on walls with the flexibility to change the focus of the spots in the future if needed.
Living, Dining & Foyer
The living room had to be a formal seating and hangout area. We selected a light green sofa with a brown leather accent chair to suit the natural color scheme. The maroon and Purple traditional rug added a pop of color and contrast to this neutral contemporary look.
A stylish bookshelf in black finish with a couple of large nature-inspired art frames adorned the interiors of this living room for a fresh look. The accent wall was painted in dark neutral royal green. A Black and white art frame with a warm wood border installed near the window perfectly complemented the look of the living accent wall.
We created a biophilic design with customized nature wallpaper for the foyer area. This wallpaper was finished with a frame to mimic an outside view of a window to create the illusion of openness to this narrow space at the entrance. Just beside this wall, a framed glass slider of the entertainment room continued this framed look into the living room which added to the charm of the foyer accent look.
A wall between the kitchen and living was taken down partially, to accommodate the dining table. A simple white gloss-finish round table and super stylish wooden dining chairs with a glamorous white chandelier successfully transitioned the rustic industrial kitchen and natural contemporary living interior style into one beautiful open space. A large B&W nature frame placed on the wall near the dining provided amazing character to the wall and made the decor styling cohesive.
A rustic and Industrial look was selected for the kitchen to elevate the otherwise simple look selected for this apartment. Dark blue PU-painted matte cabinets, open industrial pipe shelving, red brick backsplash, and black granite platform with steel finish hardware made for a perfect look that our clients intended to achieve. The refrigerator and Tall Unit were planned near the dining for easy access and functionality.
A room beside the living room was to be opened and converted into an entertainment area. Since this room was supposed to have a Television, it was important to come up with a flexible solution to close this room without compromising on the visual flow of openness of the space. We presented the idea of installing framed glass partitions which would solve the problem and make for a modern focal point in the interior theme selected.
Going with the natural and contemporary, TV unit finishes were selected to have bold warm woodgrain pattern shelves with a light grey marble finish for an accent look. The rest of the finishes were kept simple with gloss grey drawers and a white gloss back panel.
Olive green comfy couch, matte black center table with a traditional floral rug, and carefully selected decor pieces completed the look of this simple yet elegant contemporary look.
